My Journey With Focus T25 | Week 1

Hi everyone!

It's been a few weeks since I wrote because I've been super busy with gigs and travelling all over the place to get to them so I haven't had a second to stop, and if  I did I spent it happily slouched in front of the telly! The festive season is upon us and we all know what that means-lots of food! So I couldn't have chosen a better time to start Shaun T's (the guy behind the Insanity workout) newest workout Focus 25. I thought I'd let you know how I get on with it week by week as I'm absolutely loving it so far. My sister and I are doing it at the same time which is great for motivation because we push each other to do it everyday, and at the end of every workout we message each other an ugly sweaty selfie to prove we've done it-it works! So click below to find out how I got on with my first week...

My Autumn Favourites | Fashion

Hi everyone! I love Autumn! I get to pull out all my snuggly clothes, I start thinking about indoor things to do in London such as checking out the various museums and galleries, and I love changing up my hair and makeup to suit the colder weather. Here are a few of my favourite items that I've recently bought in time for Autumn!

From Sickness To Health In 3 Steps | Secrets Of A Singer

Hi everyone! It feels like I'm back from the brink of death today as I've been so ill. I had the worst flu I've had in years and for a couple of days just could not get up from bed-that's horrible for anyone but an absolute nightmare for a singer because of the toll it takes on my voice. Over the years, having been ill many times before important shows or recording sessions,  I've learnt what works and what doesn't, so I thought I'd share. Did you know there is no cure for colds and flu?! They're the most common types of illness but there is no cure, and all the stuff you get at the chemist for it simply masks your symptoms. That's brilliant for allowing you to get on with your day and function, but not great if you actually want to shift the illness. Here are 3 of the most common issues and how I deal with them...

5 golden rules to combat life's knock backs!

Hi everyone!

Let's face it - despite our best efforts, plans don't always work out the way we might have hoped. Being in the music industry, you have to develop a rhinoceros skin if you want to succeed. Here are my top survival tips!

All About That Bass Hula Hoop Singing Challenge!

Hi everyone! Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I'm a keen hula hooper! So I decided to take on the challenge of singing at the same time as hula hooping with a 1.3kg weighted hoop! I chose song of the moment All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor. It was really hard to keep my breathing steady but check out how I did!

The Truth About Internet Trolls

Happy Monday everyone! I decided to write this post because recently there have been some very high profile cases about internet trolling in the news, and I have a few things to say about this fairly new phenomenon in our lives. Trolling isn't exclusive to celebrities of course-nowadays pretty much everyone has some form of content on the internet. Whether it's pictures on Instagram and Facebook, your own blog, or your opinions on twitter, without meaning to promote yourself or sell a product you can easily end up having lots of information about yourself online without thinking much of it. Being a performer and having been in a band before, I've actively promoted myself online for years in the form of Youtube videos, blog posts, and being a part of various social networks. For me, negative comments are of course part of the territory-not everyone will like what you are promoting, and some people like to be mean for a laugh...

Mac 'Mehr' Lipstick Dupe!

Hi everyone! I just thought I'd recommend this dupe for Mac's Mehr-it's so popular it has been sold out everywhere! I discovered Mehr when I borrowed a few lipsticks from my bestie-I wanted something berry-ish and darker than my usual nude/baby pink lips that I do. I fell in love with this shade and clearly a lot of other people have too as when I wanted to buy another it was sold out everywhere I went. It's got a lovely matte but moisturising texture to it and I love that the shade is close to my lips but darker. The funny thing about this shade is that it looks different on everyone. If you do a google image search of the lipstick you'll see tons of girls wearing it but it looking completely different on everyone. It seems to suit everyone! It can come up quite natural on some people but as my natural lip colour is pink, the lipstick comes up quite dark on me which I love.

I was desperate to find a dupe while Mehr was sold out so after some youtubing and googling and other blogger recommendations I decided to buy a chubby stick by Revlon called COLORBURST MATTE BALM in the shade 225 Sultry.

Here is a pic of me wearing Mehr with the Mac lip liner Spice:

And here is a pic of me wearing Revlon Colorburst (no lip liner):

To be honest the comparison pics aren't great as it's completely different lighting in both making the shades look slightly different, but believe me when I say it's super close! I love chubby sticks because they're so easy to apply. This one has a sort of cooling effect when you first apply it, it feels like you're putting something minty on your lips. I'm not sure why that is,but either way it's very long lasting and once it's on it stays for hours and even passed the drinking and eating test. It's also retractable which is super handy.

Let me know if you buy it and what you think of it as a dupe for Mehr!

From A Diva's Point Of View...Diva Myths!

Hey everyone!

Today I was thinking about the whole 'diva' thing. Ariana Grande has been getting lots of press lately for being demanding, but I always take that kind of thing with a pinch of salt. She's a young pop starlet who has suddenly got lots of success, so it figures that the naysayers are going to be out in force trying to find any little tidbit of negativity. I've been called a diva  plenty of times (in the negative sense)  though I always thought I was pretty down to earth, and I've also heard about plenty of artists being called diva's. A lot of the time, MOST of the time, things that people find demanding are actually practical things that are part and parcel of being a singer...so I'm going to go over some of the most popular diva demands and explain it from my point of view! I felt it was time someone spoke up for the supposed divas!

Skinny Shaming...Let's Talk About That Bass

Hi everyone!

So I'm loving Meghan Trainor's song 'All about that bass' but who isn't?! It's got over a hundred million hits on youtube in about 3 months! CRAY! The world does seem to have gone booty mad this year, so in honour of that I've included a picture of my big fat bass which I wasn't always comfortable with by the way and have spent most of my years trying to hide!

I love Meghan's voice, and her cute little song about loving your shape even if you don't look like a barbie doll. It's cute! And it's pop music. The best thing about the song of course is that it's a catchy melody with catchy production, and a catchy hook. Catchy being the operative word. But of course there's always someone who is going to have a problem with SOMETHING when it's popular. I've noticed that the lyrics of the song have been getting negative press. Some have gone as far as to say it's anti-feminist. When forced to look at the lyrics in a serious manner (something I hate to do with pop music), I can see where the discontent comes from....

Ripples | Opportunities And Knowing When To Turn Things Down

Hi everyone!

So today's post is all about opportunities and ripples. I felt motivated to write this post because over the last year or so I have been seeing the fruits of my labour.

Am I Being True To Myself? | The Question Every Artist Struggles With

Howdy everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged-I’ve been overwhelmed with things to do over the last few months and having a succession of coughs, colds and sniffles didn’t help! It’s not been a good time for getting sick as I’ve had a lot of private events to perform at which I had to soldier through! I decided to write this post because as an artist, creative, and someone who often ponders about how to be truly happy, I often question myself. Questioning myself is a positive thing of course-every so often I experiment, do something out of the box, and then I conclude whether or not I’m doing the right thing. I think all artists question themselves from time to time as we live in a world where we take on a lot more than the artists that we grew up on. With so much at our fingertips, we can be our own PR and marketing team, management, record label, and even sound engineers and video editors if we want to…

I recreated Usher's song 'Good Kisser' with only my voice and things in my bedroom!

Hello everyone!

So I'm loving the new Usher track and therefore decided to do my own version. Due to the naughty and personal nature of the lyrics I switched them up to my own-as a result my version is going out to all the great men out there who know exactly how to please the ladies in their lives! What I loved most about the track was the percussive and stripped back production-as soon as I heard it I could hear all the individual parts and how I might interpret them using random objects around my room...

Love Never Felt So Good Hits All The Right Notes | Xscape | Michael Jackson

So Sony released  today as the first single from  and I have to say I love what  has done with the production. It was written in the  era and a very basic version of it has been on  for quite some time, but I do love this updated version. Funnily enough it stands up amongst contemporary releases even though it was never intended to be released. This 'Off The Wall-esque' sound has had a real resurgence of late because of artists like Justin Timberlake and Pharrel dabbling in the sound as recently as Timberlakes last album in 2013, 'The 20/20 experience'...

"I'm not Bossy. I'm the Boss."

Hi everyone!

I've actually got loads to write about at the moment with loads going on, but I wanted to first speak about something that has recently come to my attention-the Ban Bossy campaign. When I saw this video it was really interesting to me, not only because I have been labelled bossy many times in my life, but because I am currently working on a song and video that I wrote which sort of tackles this topic. It's kind of weird because although I'm not superstitious at all, lately I keep seeing and hearing things that directly relate to my song in a million different ways-I'll elaborate more on this at a later date when I actually put the song out. In today's blog post I want to talk about how being called bossy has affected me in my life, and my thoughts on this campaign....

5 Reasons The Oscars 2014 Were The Funniest To Date

So anyone who knows me knows I love Ellen DeGeneres, but then again, who doesn't?! She is genuinely warm and funny and she's one of those celebs  no one has a bad word to say about. So when she hosted the Oscars ceremony for a second time, everyone knew it was going to be worth a watch! And it turned out to be a record breaking evening as well, not only because of 'that selfie' (more on that later), but also because of it's viewing figures. It was the most watched Oscars since 2004, and the most watched entertainment telecast since the Friends' finale in 2004! Impressive figures for a ceremony which tends to be quite boring, here are 5 of the reasons it was anything but...

The Big Reunion | Why 'Girl Thing' Are The Most Fascinating Case Study

The second series of The Big Reunion is in full swing. The current crop of pop-stars of the past are 3T, Girl Thing, Eternal, A1, Damage, and a 'supergroup' made up of former popstars Gareth Gates, Dane Bowers, Kavana, Kenzie, and Adam Rickitt.
It uses the same formula as it did last year-first we hear about the successes and then subsequent falls from grace from each of the bands which always includes at least one of the following: Alcoholism, drug addiction, debt, and bust ups. In last weeks episode we learnt about the story behind 'Girl Thing'. For me, theirs has proved to be one of the most, if not the most, interesting story so far. Find out why after the break.

10 EASY Hairstyles For Curly Hair

Hi everyone!

As a naturally thick haired curly girl, I have struggled over the years with controlling the frizz, maintaining glossy curls, and finding hairstyles that suit which is something all curly girls go through as they grow up and learn how to to control their mane. I think I've kind of nailed it now in terms of knowing my hair so of course there's nothing I like more than passing on my curl tips so that we can all live peacefully in our curly world. So check out the 5 minute vid after the break!

How To Get The Loreal Ombre Look Temporarily | Hair Chalk

Hello everyone!

So I'm sure all of you will be aware of the 'Loreal Ombre' look that I mentioned in the title-it's that look so many people are wearing at the moment where their hair starts dark and then gradually blends into blonde at the tips. Now this look isn't owned by Loreal, but when this look clearly took off from about 2 years ago onwards with every celebrity rocking it, Loreal finally released a DIY kit allowing you to achieve the look yourself at home for about 6 pounds rather than having to go to a salon and paying a lot more money to get it done.

The kit includes bleach for the tips which seems to be the only way to make your hair blonde. I've never thought about trying this look myself, but when I heard about the DIY kit, I started wondering if there was another way of colouring your tips a different colour without doing something as drastic as bleaching, which can really damage and dry out your hair. I was interested in finding a way of doing it for perhaps only one evening and then being able to wash it out. And then I discovered hair chalk. After the break, check out my hair chalk do's and don'ts and the accompanying video tutorial...

New Year in Paris 2014 (Part 1)

Hello and Happy New Year 2014!!!

So as stated in the title, I spent New Years in Paris this year-my first time abroad celebrating new year so hopefully this year will be full of many firsts! Although I've been to Paris before and have seen the sights, I didn't get a chance to go to the top of the Eiffel tower. This time that was top of my list and I also wanted to take in the sights and sounds a bit more. Anyone who has already been sightseeing in Paris to the various landmarks will know how ridiculous the queues are though-it's actually enough to put you off. Especially when you're dealing with drizzly cold weather as I was-it doesn't put you in the best mood. So I did a bit of investigating and cracked a few ways to beat the queues. In part 1 I will tell you about my pursuit for the perfect venue to spend my New Years Eve, and in part 2 which will the next blog post, I'm going to share the information they don't tell you at the Louvre, or the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame, about how to get inside QUICKLY. Also, being a veggie, I was determined to have a better time of it this time than I had last time in Paris, when I had to mainly rely on Italian and fast food chains. All that and more...

Hi everyone! So I've had a bit of a gap in blog posts as I've had a busy time of it recently-I'll be writing about everything I've been getting up to this week so everything is in a different order to how it actually happened in my life but hey ho! After the break, my cover of Happy by Pharrell, and my reasons for doing it!
