It's been a few weeks since I wrote because I've been super busy with gigs and travelling all over the place to get to them so I haven't had a second to stop, and if I did I spent it happily slouched in front of the telly! The festive season is upon us and we all know what that means-lots of food! So I couldn't have chosen a better time to start Shaun T's (the guy behind the Insanity workout) newest workout Focus 25. I thought I'd let you know how I get on with it week by week as I'm absolutely loving it so far. My sister and I are doing it at the same time which is great for motivation because we push each other to do it everyday, and at the end of every workout we message each other an ugly sweaty selfie to prove we've done it-it works! Focus T25 is a 10 week course. The first five weeks are the 'Alpha section which is supposedly easier than the following five weeks. That's kind of scary as Alpha is pretty tough! What I love about these workouts is that they are a bite-size 25 minutes. But don't worry, that doesn't mean you aren't getting a great workout-this is High Intensity Interval Training which most instructors swear by as the best way to burn fat and get efficient workouts. My main goals with this workout is to increase my stamina and strength and to gain more muscle tone. I'm not really looking to lose weight, but more than anything would like to see some muscle! I'm looking forward to feeling stronger and fitter at the end of this!
There is a handy calender that comes with the DVD's which details which workout you should do every day. I found my first day very intense but absolutely loved it. I had to follow the 'modifier' Tania a few times when I was absolutely knackered but I enjoyed the challenge of the workout. Shaun T is a great motivator and you sweat BUCKETS with this workout if you really put your all into it. I found Tuesday and Wednesday very difficult as I would always be aching from the day before, but like Shaun says, as long as you are giving you're all, it doesn't matter if you're not able to do it like the pro's in the video. I have to say that for me personally, the hardest was the AB Intervals workout. It's very tough and I was shaking while trying to do the moves! Hopefully my core strength will get better quickly! Even though it's only 25 minutes, I still had to force myself to do the workouts as when I'm doing gigs I often just want to sleep in in the mornings. I'm glad I'm doing it at the same time as my sister because it feels like we're in it together and can push each other. I'm getting a total body workout and I can really feel the burn in my bum, thighs, calves, belly, and arms. The stuff I'm rubbish at are the ab exercises and press ups-I can only do box press ups. Maybe one day I'll be able to do some proper ones Michelle Obama style! What I love about Shaun T's workouts is that the moves are very rhythmic-you can tell he's a dancer. If you aren't much of a dancer or aren't used to doing coordinated movements to rhythmic timing I suggest you sit down and watch them through first and learn them properly before you attempt the workout.
